Wood Shop and Tobacco Barn

Wood shop

In the wood shop heat and ventilation are two big factors.  All the machines running and work being done will make for a hot environment. To help keep the shop comfortable there are many openings at the top of the wall and also on the roof.
There are several doors into the shop, one large 9' wide door that would allow larger trucks to back into the shop to deliver wood/pick up furniture.  Another door is a slightly smaller 7' which would allow access for a medium sized tractor to pull in for storage or to do mechanical work on it.  The third door is a 5' door designed to make it easy to move carts or hand trucks through.
The doors for the larger openings are 2 layers. The two layers can be connected together to make it one door, just large enough to cover the opening.  However, when you separate the two doors, then can slide over the middle section of the building, covering the windows.  This was done to help prevent hurricane damage.  There could also be panels in the soffit all the way around the building that could come down and cover the upper windows.

Floor Plans-

The tobacco barn is on the left (40' x 30'), it consists of a drying area, a receiving/sorting area, a rolling area and a humidor.  The shop on the right (45' x 30') has an open floor plan so there is plenty of room for different saws, tools and work benches.

Possible Furniture that could be made-

Section-

Tobacco Barn and Processing center - This is a building designed to hang and dry the tobacco leaves to prepare them to make cigars.  It will also include areas to sort the dried tobacco and roll it into cigars.

Section-

This section shows the lower drying area along with the latter up to the loft, which is also a drying area.

Elevation-

The Tobacco barn and shop are connected, this makes it so workers can easily do multiple jobs. For example someone who was working in the wood shop could easily help unload and sort the tobacco when it arrives at the barn.

The Tobacco barn would have gaps in the siding to allow light to penetrate into the building.
